Inner Spaces/Inner Worlds

Design as a way to ask questions rather than solve problems

The presentation will address the translation processes (social, procedural, aesthetic) that take place between concept and implementation, focusing on the design of interior spaces using three arenas of work: The first is architectural practice as a professional service. The second highlights alternative collaborative work models and self-initiated projects. The third addresses teaching, specifically my current pedagogical projects that implicitly ask questions about the widening gaps of experience between the academy and the realities of practice. The talk opens up discussions about specialization, multidisciplinarity, equity and the heterogeneous nature of what it means to be an architect or designer today.
