Lights on! for Lights of Vienna

Semester projects BA Manual & Material Culture at the Vienna Design Week 2014

"Light is what makes good architecture into a unique one". This is the motto inspiring Lights of Vienna – a renowned developer and manufacturer of decorative lighting, known for its cutting-edge products and for welcoming new ideas by young designers.

Students of the bachelor's course Manual & Material Culture were given the opportunity to design stainless steel hanging lamps for Lights of Vienna and to produce prototypes. Although the material and the dimensions had been predefined, the result was a series of twelve different objects positioned in the field between industrial production and hand-made uniques.

The 12 objects were exhibited in autumn 2014 as part of Vienna Design Week.
